EMERGENCY ULTRASOUND FOR
RURAL AND REMOTE MEDICINE (EURM) courses are delivered with
a focus on practical sessions
The UTS EURM courses are designed
for candidates with little or no prior ultrasound experience.
The EURM course is overseen by
Dr. Michael Sewell, consultant
rural and remote GP locum.
Course objectives
At the conclusion of this course
you will be able to:

Understand the physical principles and artifacts of ultrasound,
knobology and image optimisation

Gain experience in navigating the ultrasound system and
its features

Demonstrate proficiency in performing and interpreting
bedside ultrasound examinations

Understand the applications and limitations of ultrasound
in a rural and remote setting of FAST, AAA, DVT, acute
pelvis and early pregnancy assessment
-
Demonstrate basic practical proficiency in vascular access
through experience gained in the use of ultrasound phantoms
